Time Doctor watches what people work on, decides whether it counts as productive, and can tell them so on screen. MunkiSee reports whether the machine is being used, against hours you defined, and then says nothing at all.
Both are legitimate products. They are aimed at different management styles, and it is worth knowing which one you are buying.
Several of Time Doctor's more intrusive features are optional and off by default in some plans. They are listed here because the capability existing is itself something you have to explain internally.

Productivity classification requires somebody to decide, in advance, which applications count. YouTube is a distraction, unless you are in marketing. Reddit is a time sink, unless you are the sysadmin who found the fix there. Excel is productive, including the four hours someone spent rebuilding a report that already existed.
The classification is always wrong for somebody, and the people it is wrong about learn to game it — which is how you end up with a dashboard that is green and a team that is stuck. MunkiSee does not attempt the judgement. It tells you when a machine was in use and when it was not, and leaves the interpretation to the person who knows the job.
Idle prompts and distraction alerts are the feature people remember, and rarely fondly. Once software is interrupting someone at their desk, you have delegated a management conversation to a timer. MunkiSee never renders anything except a tray icon reporting its own state — there is no notification, no prompt, and no way for an administrator to make it speak to a user.
Utilisation against hours you set, per person, team, department or site. Timelines that replay a device's day. Heatmaps showing when the fleet is actually busy, which is how staffing and patch windows stop being guesswork. Trends over weeks, with a baseline band so an ordinary dip does not read as a crisis.
Where time cannot be accounted for, it is reported as unexplained rather than quietly folded into a score. Naming the gap is more useful than filling it with a guess.
If a client contract obliges you to produce app-level or screenshot evidence — common in outsourcing — MunkiSee cannot satisfy it and never will. If you bill by the task, Time Doctor's project tracking is the product you need. And it runs on Macs, which we do not.
Whether input has occurred recently. That is the entire sensor. The underlying input events are discarded on the device immediately and never leave it — no timestamps, no sequence, nothing to reconstruct.
What reaches the server is a status change: this device went idle at 14:32, active at 14:51.

It already does. Hours are set per organisation, team or individual, and outside them the agent writes nothing — not idle, not offline. Holidays on the organisation's calendar are excluded from measurement entirely, including per-state Australian public holidays.
Yes, on Standard and above. It flags the input signatures typical of jigglers and auto-clickers as a signal to look into. It is raised for review, with a threshold you set per department, rather than posted as an accusation.
90 days on Core, 180 on Standard, a year on Professional, and unlimited if you self-host on Enterprise. Older activity is rolled into hourly summaries and the raw events deleted, so the trends survive without the detail lingering.
